Our Tutors and Volunteers

Literacy Volunteers are the best!

Women and men who volunteer to tutor are a diverse group.  There is no need to have a background in education to be an effective tutor. And you don’t  need to know another language to teach someone English! We provide training for our  tutors and and a library of program materials to support  you as you help  your student. Ideally, you and your student will spend about two hours a week working together.

We have other volunteer opportunities, too!  Our office is primarily staffed with volunteers, as well as our fundraising events and our  Board of Directors.

If you’re interested in volunteering with us,  please complete our Volunteer Application.

ALL LVA VOLUNTEERS MUST AGREE TO COMPLY WITH AND PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK.
